Whenever facing those dangerous creatures of the night that feed off the blood of their victims, anyone who enters the realm of Vampirism in Skyrim is faced with a dangerous foe that is not only deformed by a pale and terrifying complexion, but also a powerful knowledge of weapons and magical combat.

Vampires have a very nasty bite that comes in the form of a Drain Life ability, they can quickly suck the health right out of you while inconveniently restoring their own. If you have been struck by a vampire whilst in combat, there is a good chance you may have contracted the Vampirism disease "Sanguinare Vampiris", which will slowly but surely turn you into a creature of the night.

After engaging in any form of combat with a vampire, adventurers should always check their Active Effects to see if the "Sanguinare Vampiris" disease is present. Anyone not wishing to turn fully into a vampire, should seek the medical attention of a Cure Disease potion or one of the numerous Shrines to heal the disease before the effects take hold.

If accidentally or deliberately letting the course of Vampirism in Skyrim take its effect, there are a three days of warnings that appear as you are changing into a vampire. At night time you will receive the message "You feel a strange thirst as the sun sets" and at dawn you will receive the message "You feel weaker as the sun rises". Seeing these messages three times indicates that you have fully turned into a vampire!

Living with Vampirism In Skyrim

As a vampire you must feed on the blood of humans and dependent on the time between feeds, there are four different stages of vampire effects. Feeding on the blood of sleeping humans will have some advantages that will become a benefit to your life as a vampire, but not taking regular feeds will also have major disadvantages that can cripple your life as the living dead.

Advantages of being a vampire include immunity to all known diseases, immunity to any contracted poisons, Champion of the night that makes your illusion spells 25% more powerful, and Nightstalker's Footsteps that make you 25% harder to detect while sneaking. You will also dependent on what stage of Vampirism you are currently at, receive added Resist Frost of 25, 50, 75 or 100%.

Disadvantages are how citizens perceive you in Skyrim, a level of hatred will be apparent dependent on what level of Vampirism you are currently at. At levels 1, 2 or 3 you are most of the time unrecognisable as a vampire, but a level 4 you are immediately identified as a vampire and citizens and guards will attack you on sight!

You will also have the weakness to sunlight effect between the day hours of 5am to 7pm, where your health, magicka and stamina will not regenerate if attacked. And there is also the added effect of all your health, magicka and stamina levels being reduced between 15 and 60 points, dependent on your vampirism level.

A weakness to fire will also take effect, which again is dependent on what level of Vampirism you are at. Where you can expect to receive a Weakness to Fire negative effect of between 25 and 100%.

Surviving With Vampirism In Skyrim

As you spend longer under the influence of Vampirism in Skyrim, you will gain some major powers that will help you survive your life in Skyrim as a blood sucking vampire.

At stage one of Vampirism you will have the powers, vampires sight which allows you to see in the dark more easily, vampire drain that sucks 2 points per second of health from your victim, and vampires servant which once a day allows you to resurrect a dead creature for 60 seconds to aid in battle.

At stage two of Vampirism you will have all the powers of stage one with the added, vampires seduction which allows you to calm victims so they won't flee or fight you for 30 seconds, an increase of the vampire drain to 3 health points drained per second, and the vampires

iTZKooPA has a grand banquet of gaming joy planned, and will be playing World of warcraft, Guild Wars 2, SMITE, Tribes, Borderlands 2 and League of Legends. I was the one who originally pushed this event, but he’s jumped on board with his classic iTZKooPA enthusiasm and has blown me away. I’ll be spending the lion’s share of my time in Lineage 2, along with Randy Denosha. We’ll be having a grand L2 marathon, and anyone is invited! That’s right, just download Lineage 2 (it’s f2p now), make an account if you don’t have one, and come on in and crash the party! Randy will be playing a tank, and I’ve made an orc buffer named Tesemet and a dark elf healer named Tesemi – whichever one I play will be determined by who shows up and what we need. But that’s the backbone of any party, so we’re set up to welcome anyone and everyone! If enough people show up, we can divvy up into multiple parties.
These are brand spanking new characters – we’ll be starting completely from scratch on the Naia server, at 8am CDT (9am EST / 6am PDT). Unfortunately you can’t chat with anyone in game until you’re level 20, so if you’re joining in just make a character and then send a friend request to Tesemet and Tesemi. If it says I’m offline on one, just try the other. Or you can type /mailbox in game and send a mail to both characters – though you’ll have to do at least one quest to earn the postage fees.
